Audio Description Association (ADA) Scotland

Audio Description Association Scotland was formed by a group of users, describers and theatre managers to provide a service that makes performances accessible to visually impaired people.

Audio description is a commentary for people with sight problems who have difficulty seeing a screen, stage, exhibition or sporting event.

ADA Scotland offer a range of activities and resources including:

courses to train describers in audio description skills
monitoring the quality of audio description broadcasts
training for venue staff in safe guiding of patrons with a sight problem
advice to theatres, museums, galleries, arts, sports and heritage centres
loan of portable radio equipment to members
a register of accredited audio describers in Scotland
speakers to inform the public about audio description
workshops in specialist areas e.g. dance
a liaison point for describers, visually impaired people and theatres
audio description at conferences, music festivals, concerts and sporting events
